St. Vincent de Paul

Following in the footsteps of St. Vincent de Paul are the dedicated men and women of St. Edward Parish.  The St. Vincent de Paul society believes in compassion, humility and generosity to the poor and disadvantaged.  Through hard work the members become the hands, feet and heart of our Lord Jesus Christ.  St. Vincent de Paul can make “even the most adverse conditions more bearable, and bring the spirit of true fraternity to our world, enabling it to feel as a single family, where the greatest attention is paid to those most in need.”      Pope Francis, 6/20/13

What do we do?

There are weekly and year round activities to assist the poor and disadvantaged.  Each Wednesday you will find the members at the pantry making up 285 food boxes. In 2013 St. Vincent de Paul distributed approximately 2500 household and clothing items, supplied furniture to 41 families and provided new shoes to 166 children to start the school year.  Christmas food boxes, packed full of goodies, went to 24 parish families.  New toys for Christmas went to 391 children.  This event was sponsored by the generous members of St. Edward and the KGW Toy Drive.  Rent assistance went to 11 families and utility assistance helped 28 families.  Hundreds of people in our community are grateful for the work done by St. Vincent de Paul.

How is St. Vincent de Paul Funded?

Funding comes from the dedicated members of St. Edward Parish, as well as different fundraisers.  In the spring and fall there is a rummage sale which brings in great donations and money to support St. Vincent de Paul.  Items are sold to members of the community at a great discount. Throughout July, August, and September there is a produce sale. Last year’s sales brought in $1800 for the poor and disadvantaged.

Fred Meyer has selected St. Vincent De Paul of Lebanon to participate in the Fred Meyer Rewards Program during 2014. At the end of each quarter Fred Meyer will make a donation to participating nonprofits based on accumulated spending of the participating customers linked to each nonprofit. You can help by linking your Fred Meyer rewards card to St. Vincent de Paul Lebanon. or visit the Customer Service desk at your Fred Meyer store.
